This week’s question comes from Jae (paraphrased):
I live in Korea and own an Auckland rental property. My son lives in Auckland. Can he, on my behalf, sign a property management authority with a property manager and receive rent as his income?
Katrina O’Connor from Barfoot & Thompson kindly responds below:
Your son would be able to complete and sign a property management authority for the property if he held a power of attorney to act on your behalf.
Alternatively, a management authority could be sent to you in Korea, as the property owner, to be signed and returned to the Property Management Company
Rental income could be paid to any account you nominate, be it your own or your son’s account.
